Is it difficult for an artist to say goodbye to a painting when it sells? Sometimes. But have you ever wondered if it’s hard for the painting to say goodbye to the artist? You probably think that I'm mad, and that's OK, but this is the story about the painting that really did cry!
Free fallin' is the title of one of Tom Petty's songs sung by John Mayer about a break-up. For me, it's a powerful metaphor that inspired this painting about transitioning change. It's not only relevant for navigating break-ups but is about any transitional phase that follows big life changes.

Have you ever awakened to the surreal stillness of a snowy white night before the world wakes up and gets busy? Have you noticed night time snow fall has a silencing and calming effect on the world? The snow on a skylight window even looks like a blank canvas full of opportunities. The arrival of winter is around the corner. we had our first snowfall this week. It makes me want to hibernate and contemplate the ups and the downs of the year. Winter, snow, ups and downs make me think of mountains and skiing and that's exactly what I'm into painting these days in the art studio.
I'll be "moving mountains" to Art3F in Brussels for an upcoming Belgian Art Show from 23 - 25 November 2018.
I'd love to see you there!

"This is not what it seems" is the theme of my Sketchbook submitted to The Brooklyn Art Library this week. After binging on food sustainability documentaries whilst living in the USA, I decided to connect the theme of the Sketchbook with food sustainability. The insights discovered in the documentaries nudged me to become a (mainly) plant-based eater and use art as a communication tool to share ideas that might catalyze change or insights in others.
I was recently interviewed by Alex Congdon for his podcast series called Expat Business Hero. Alex invited me to tell my story as an internationally exhibited artist, Tedx Speaker and Team Building expert and explain how I overcame post natal depression (& a career in HR) to realise my dream of being an artist and an entrepreneur.
"The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you figure out why". It took me 30 years to figure out why and it didn't happen over night. It was a journey that required a leap of faith and courage to overcome my doubts and fears.
What does it take to overcome postnatal depression by following my dreams of becoming an artist and turn the stress of cash-flow problems into ideas & opportunities? Silencing my inner critic, and a leap of faith.
Que faut-il pour surmonter la dépression postnatale en suivant mes rêves de devenir un artiste et transformer le stress des problèmes de trésorerie en idées et opportunités ? Mettre en sourdine mon critique intérieur, et un acte de foi.
This year, Medicines for Malaria Venture has collaborated with artist Steph Fonteyn to celebrate the molecules that have become lifesaving medicines and are helping to accelerate efforts to end malaria for good.
